Victoria School, a place of knowledge and comfort(Please mark)

Do you remember your first day in your new secondary school? And the days that followed? I remember mine vividly.
"Well, have a good day and see you in three days time!" My mom smiled as she drove off. Gulping, I walked to the school porch, this time, the fifth time in my life. I was carrying with me two BIG bags. I was going to an orientation camp without comfort and friends. Well, lets not say without friends. Within my first day at Victoria school, I had found a circle of friends. First of all was Jun Yin, a big and round boy with so little hair he could be standing next to a monk with both people wearing robes and spectacles and you wouldn't differentiate the two of them. It was only out of respect for him that I didn't point that out on my first day. Next was Xiong Le. He was a very, very naughty boy who, I didn't notice at first, quite a brave fellow. He had hair that spread in all directions and a very mischievous face. Lastly, I met Hao Yang. He had a rather jolly face and a cheeky attitude. I first notice that he could make jokes and also groan-inducing puns without even having to be asked. Altogether, I was in the camp with them. Unfortunately, I'm not about to tell you about the details of the camp because that is but another story. Anyway, I was to go for CCA trials a week after my camp and I did not have to even make a thought about it: I was in Chinese Orchestra already. I guided my friends Jun Yin and Xiong Le and they are now in the Chinese Orchestra. My form teacher, Mr Gabriel, was with us during the trials. We had lessons after the trials were done. Each lesson had its own type of criteria and though I sometimes had failures and stuff like that, at least I had my friends with me. I did my 2.4km run, made a victorian guitar and learned to cook simple foods. Though these were hard times for me and I took these a year ago, hey, I'm not complaining you know. Why? Because I'm in Victoria School, a place of knowledge and comfort.

Food for Thought(Please mark)

Have you ever wondered if food had not been invented yet? Or at least the term 'food' was not in the modern day dictionary? When it comes to food, there is a large variety of food types. From spicy food to sweet food from dry food to bitter food.
In my school, Victoria School, the food there is simply marvelous. I have a liking for spicy food. From curries to spicy soups. I shall now tell about my first day in the Secondary One Orientation. I came to the canteen and ......
Wow! I exclaimed inwardly. Look at all the different types of food here. I began looking around at the different food stalls. After a quick scan of the stalls, my liking for spicy food bubbled in stomach. I thought of the stalls I had visited and decided on my choice of food. After ten minutes, I returned to the class table with a plate laden with rice, a chicken drumstick, some vegetables and a small mound of chili. My brother had once said that chili was a food from heaven. I agree with him simply because chili is a very peculiar but all the same great food stuff altogether. After I tasted the food, I did not regret my decision. Too bad the next day I had to go for the Orientation Camp, which is yet another story...... Anyway, I returned three days later and decided to try yet another stall's food. The food at the Orientation camp was well, quite nice. I began looking for my second favourite type of food: Sweet food. I arrived another stall and took a quick look around. I eyed a donut and decided to try this stall's catered pastries and paid for a donut. I filled the bag containing the donut with a bit of sugar and tasted it. Altogether, it wasn't that bad, apart from the fact that it was too sweet. I finished it and headed back to class.
Well, that is my opinion on the subject, food. All in all, I think that our taste buds will react with the amount of each type of food we take. Take an example: let's say I like eat frnch fries. In the end, my taste buds will adapt to the usual amount of salt in the french fries and I will most likely take a likng for salty food. In the end, my topic, Food for Thought, has come to a conclusion, : Our taste buds will react to the amounts of the types of food we take in so we must beware of the amount of the types of food stuffs like salt snd sweet thing otherwise a liking to it could not be good. Well, Food for Thought!

My first day in the Victoria School Chinese Orchestra (Please mark)

To many people, joining a CCA, or Co-Curricular Activity, is just like learning a new subject in school. Perhaps some students may already have attended that particular CCA in their previous primary school, making the student an experienced person in that CCA. For me, I have been in a Chinese Orchestra for nearly six years and counting. this makes me an experienced player, which brings me back to the I arrived at Victoria School for the second time in my life, more than one year ago .......
I was nervous. This was my second time coming to this new school, ahead of all the other students in my cohort, apart from my interview with the three principals, which is yet another story to be told...... Anyway, my parents had drove off the moment they had dropped me off at the porch. I eyed a boy holding a chinese instrument! He had a freckled face and wore spectacles. He was talking to a lady who had short black hair and also wore spectacles too. I heard an oboe sound and surveyed the spiral staircase on my left. When I turned back to the freckled boy, he was already walking in my direction. I took a deep breathe and thought to myself, alright, I'll just ask him where is the Chinese Orchestra room is. Before I could utter a word, he called out to me :" Are you the new Chinese Orchestra player?" Cripes! I thought, how did he know? Soon, however, it all became clear. He introduced himself as Wei Liang and informed a shocked me that he was the vice-chairman of the Victoria School Chinese Orchestra. He then brought me to the canteen to find the chairman, who was at the canteen having lunch.
When I reached the canteen, I looked around for the chairman. When Wei Liang brought me to the table which the chairman was supposed to be, I stared blankly at the occupants, as a dozen pair of eyes stared back at me. Wei Liang ran to a tall, freckled boy and whispered something into his ear. The tall boy looked at me for a short while before a broad grin stretched across his face. He told me that his name was Ser Yang, chairman of the Victoria School Chinese Orchestra. Wei Liang then brought me to the Chinese Orchestra room. It was a big room and was filled with many students. Feeling a bit awkward, I sat at a corner, clutching my bag. Soon, Ser Yang came up to the Chinese Orchestra room and told everybody to gather in front of the board. He told me to stand in front of everybody. As Ser Yang introduced me, I surveyed the crowd. After the introductions were finished, everyone was to move to various groups according to their instruments. I followed a big, tall boy to a classroom on the fifth floor. I soon found out that his name was Bryan. Firstly, everybody was to tune their instruments. I, having had some experience in my previous school, tune my erhu at a very fast speed. Many of the other players stared at me with surprise etched on their faces. After tuning the instruments, it was time to practice our pieces. I was to try and play a totally alien score own my own. I found it, however easy to sight-read.
The rest of the afternoon was devoted to playing the piece and at 5.30p.m. , it was time to report back to the Chinese Orchestra room. After debriefing the members of the Chinese Orchestra, I was told the day of the next practice. As I left the Chinese Orchestra room that day, I felt that my first day at the Victoria School Chinese Orchestra was an enjoyable one.
